About Neil
I'm Neil Heyes, a business owner and Chartered Building Surveyor, MRICS, with more than 25 years of professional and commercial experience.
From senior management and Associate Director-level roles to running and developing professional services businesses, I've worked with the decisions owners face every day: attracting customers, managing costs, pricing services and keeping a business organised.
My coaching draws on that experience, not claims of overnight success. When you work with me, you work with me.
The Business Owner's Dilemma
Most people don't start a business because they want to work longer hours, take fewer holidays or spend every evening worrying about tomorrow. They want greater independence, financial security and control over their lives.
But somewhere along the way, running the business can become all-consuming. You're generating sales, dealing with customers, managing finances, handling problems and making every important decision.
Before long, the business you created for freedom can begin controlling your time.
I believe a successful business should provide more than an income. It should give you choices — about how you work, how much you earn, which customers you serve and the life you want to lead.
Build a Business That Works for You.
Not the Other Way Around.
Who I Help
For founders, company directors, small business owners and self-employed professionals, including those preparing to start their first business.
01
Consider the income you need, likely costs, pricing, finding customers and what self-employment really involves.
02
Step back from daily pressures to improve profitability, operations and the decisions that shape your future.
03
Build commercial understanding, clearer priorities and a more sustainable business that is less dependent on you.
Why Coaching Helps
You're the person others turn to for answers. But who do you speak to when you need a second opinion?
An experienced outside perspective can make a difference. Coaching creates space to discuss challenges openly, question assumptions and consider alternatives away from daily pressures.
01
An outside viewpoint on your challenges, decisions and opportunities.
02
Discuss your options, question assumptions and consider the commercial implications.
03
Develop a clearer understanding of pricing, operating costs, profit margins and the income your business needs to provide.
04
Identify improvements to systems, time management and everyday operations.
05
Establish achievable objectives instead of constantly reacting to problems.
06
Review agreed actions, discuss obstacles and track progress between meetings.
The Owner, the Business & the Plan
A business generating substantial revenue isn't necessarily successful for its owner. What matters is whether it is profitable, sustainable and supporting the life you want.
For some, success means expansion and larger operations. For others, it means a comfortable income, more control over working hours, less stress and more time with family. We start with what success means to you.
01
Start with what you want your business to achieve for you: personal income, working hours, family priorities, financial security and long-term independence. Consider your strengths and where you would like to develop.
02
Look at how the business operates: pricing, profitability, operating costs, sales, marketing, cash flow awareness, organisation and systems — including how dependent it is on you.
03
Agree realistic priorities that bring the business closer to your objectives. Put improvements into practice, then review progress and refine the next steps together.
Personalised to your circumstances — not every topic is covered in every meeting.

Commitment & Progress
Some challenges can be addressed quickly. Changes to pricing, marketing, organisation or delegation need time to plan, introduce and refine.
The programme begins with a three-month minimum commitment to understand your business, establish priorities and start implementing changes. Longer-term coaching is optional, not a fixed twelve-month programme.
The aim isn't to create dependence on a coach. It's to develop your understanding, confidence and commercial skills to manage your business more effectively.
